As a Pastor’s wife, it was natural for Mrs. Williams to minister and care for the families that came to her for advice or prayer. Her door was always open to receive those in need of counseling and encouragement. The next natural step was to open her home to care for the many children in need of a safe environment full of love to learn and grow socially, emotionally and physically. So, beginning in late 2000, and for 19 years, Mrs. Williams worked her ministry of providing quality childcare to all that came to her door.
In December of 2018, Mrs. Williams decided it was time to retire and she did so in grand fashion. Her family threw a lavish celebration, and friends and family came from near and far to honor her legacy of Little Sunshine.
Although Mrs. Williams still consults from time to time, the torch was passed to her youngest daughter, Tawanda (Williams) Payne. Sharing her mother’s love for children, Mrs. Payne switched from her initial career in Nutrition & Dietetics, went back to school for childcare, and is now the proud owner of Little Sunshine, doing all to maintain and grow the childcare legacy built by her mother. Mrs. Tawanda Payne is also married with two sons.
No longer in Mrs. William’s living room, Little Sunshine is located within Sunshine M.B. Church, employs 19 well-trained caregivers and staff and has the capacity to serve 100 children.
